Slow worms are not actually worms but are legless lizards that are found throughout Europe and parts of Asia. They have smooth, shiny skin that is usually brown or grey in color and can range from 30 to 50 centimeters in length. Slow worms are known for their slow and deliberate movements and are usually active during the daytime. They are popular prey for many predators and tend to hide under rocks, logs or another cover during the night. Slow worms are not harmful to humans and are often considered an important species for maintaining the health of ecosystems
